SINGAPORE: For the first time, Singaporean singer JJ Lin has teamed up with Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan on a brand-new single titled
Skibidi, the
Straits Times reported.
The collaboration was announced on Taiwan’s Hit FM website on 25 August and confirmed by Lin’s label JFJ Productions on social media the next day.
Fans got a sneak peek when JFJ posted a photo of the 44-year-old singer with Chan, 71, alongside the caption: “Hear it first...Preview @JJLin & @jackiechan’s new single, Skibidi, before its global release, from tomorrow, Wednesday, Aug 27 at 10am.”
The quirky title borrows from internet slang, recently recognised by the Cambridge Dictionary, where “skibidi” can mean “cool,” “bad,” or sometimes nothing at all, thanks to its roots in a viral YouTube series called Skibidi Toilet.
According to Hit FM, the high-energy track reflects the duo’s ethos of giving their best, and for Chan, it also marks a first step into electronic music after decades of recording theme songs and albums in other genres.
