Lorry carrying goods catches fire in Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: A three-tonne lorry carrying clothing and bags caught fire along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephen on Friday afternoon.

The Fire and Rescue Department received the call at 3pm and deployed a team of 10 firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu station.

The lorry, owned by a departmental store, was reported to have been about 90 per cent destroyed in the blaze.

Firefighters used two hose reel lines, drawing water from their fire engine, to bring the flames under control by 3.27pm before fully completing the operation at 3.59pm.

No injuries were reported, and firefighters ensured the area was safe before ending the operation, with police officers also assisting at the scene.
