SM All Saints impressed the judges with their project that created a positive impact on rural communities through a water filter machine made from natural and recycled materials.
Their project, titled “Mini H20 Water Purifier”, was developed by five Form Five students and they are Boy Foo Nang @ Jacob, Mirza Abreshyam Latif, Ryan Adriel, Wesley Vijay, and Joshua Robin. They were by their teacher, Siti Azizah Md Yussof.
Meanwhile KVC had two participating teams and the runner-up team consisted of five 17-year-old students: Rosselina Senora Ungkak, Iris Sofea Irfin, Daffeny Jeanne Domica, Victoria Urai Jacob, and Nur Alesya Felix Mohd Fahmey.
Their project, “Sign & Tell”, guided school communities to learn sign language so they could communicate with hearing-impaired individuals.
Another team from KVC received a consolation prize with RM300. Both teams were mentored by Vienny Balakrishnan and Sirhajwan Idek.
The competition initially received 70 submissions, later shortlisted to 30 teams that underwent online training before presenting their projects via Zoom.
Fifteen teams advanced to the face-to-face stage in May at the same venue, where they attended a two-day intensive camp before presenting their projects on the third day.
From there, the top 10 teams were awarded grants of RM800 each to implement their projects over three months. These 10 teams then showcased the impact of their projects in the recently concluded final round.
