KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah's (Gagasan Rakyat) Tanjung Aru’s two-day Kite Flying and Design Competition brought festive cheer to Tanjung Aru Beach, drawing strong participation from local youths and visitors.
The event showcased creative kite designs that combined traditional and modern elements, highlighting Sabah’s cultural heritage while promoting innovation.
Gagasan Rakyat Tanjung Aru Committee member Dr Ritchie Jay Cheng said the festival aimed to inspire creativity and preserve local kite-making traditions as part of Sabah’s tourism appeal.
He also commended Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for his leadership in defending Sabah’s rights, following the High Court’s affirmation of the state’s entitlement to 40 pc of federal revenue.
Dr Ritchie described the ruling as a victory for all Sabahans, reflecting unity and confidence in the state’s direction.
The colourful community event received strong support from residents, volunteers, and local tourism agencies, who hope to see it become an annual attraction at Tanjung Aru Beach.
