Kota Kinabalu: MADBOOST AquaAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) system for aquaculture health and sustainability developed by researchers from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has won top honours at the PEREKA 2025 Innovation Competition and the International Invention Innovation Competition in Canada (iCAN 2025).
The project, led by Ts. Dr. Rayner @ Henry Pailus and Prof. Ts. Dr. Rayner Alfred, represents a collaboration between the Creative Advanced Machine Intelligence Research Centre (CAMIRC) and the Artificial Intelligence Synergy (AIS) Research Group at UMS.
At PEREKA 2025, MADBOOST AquaAI earned the Gold Award, Best of Category Award, and the Best of the Best Award in Environmental and Applied Sciences.
Earlier, at iCAN 2025 in Toronto, the project secured a Gold Award, an International Special Award from the Organization for Creativity, Innovation and Invention Promotion (OCIIP), and was named among the Top 20 Best Inventions.
