Kota Kinabalu: Borneo Culinary Sdn Bhd, the company behind the fast-rising BOYA Nanyang Kopitiam, feted more than 160 staff members at its Annual Appreciation and Award Dinner 2025.
It was a celebration of success, teamwork and the shared dream of bringing the taste and identity of Borneo to greater heights.
Held at Majestic Oriental, the event carried the theme “Celebrating Success, Building the Future”, showcasing the company’s rapid growth and strong family spirit that has become the trademark of the “BOYA family.”
BOYA Director and Co-Founder Jordan Khoo reflected on the brand’s humble beginnings, tracing its roots all the way to China, where the idea of BOYA Nanyang was first born.
“Before our first branch opened in Malaysia, BOYA Nanyang existed only as an idea, a dream built on countless discussions, factory visits and long nights of planning,” said Jordan.
“We started with limited resources but with unlimited determination. Every challenge shaped us, every change in the menu, every late-night shift, all of it built the strength we have today,” he added.
Khoo described BOYA Nanyang not merely as a business but as a living reflection of Borneo’s identity, culture and spirit.
The evening also featured a staff award presentation segment to honour outstanding employees, recognising excellence in service, leadership and commitment.
“Each one of you plays a vital role,” Jordan said. “We’ve face long hours, busy days and countless challenges, yet you stay committed, cheerful, and proud. That’s what makes BOYA different, our family spirit.”
“Tonight, we celebrate not just results, but the journey, the sacrifices and the strength we share. Because here at BOYA Nanyang, we are not just building a company. We’re building a legacy,” he added.
Echoing the founder’s sentiment, BOYA Co-Founder and Managing Director Andy shared the company’s forward-looking vision anchored by its four core values: Belonging, Ownership, Yielding Excellence and Authenticity (B.O.Y.A.).
“We are more than just a team, we are a family,” he said. “Every member belongs, every action matters and excellence is not a one-time act, but a habit.” Andy said.
The evening concluded with laughter, applause and a shared sense of pride as staff and management dined together, marking another year of growth and unity.
“BOYA is not just a brand,” Andy reminded everyone. “It’s a movement, born in Borneo, growing with Borneo and made for Malaysia.”
