Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) Sabah Deputy Chairman Datuk Ronnie Loh Ee Eng will bring Sabah’s rights to the attention of the United Nations in New York if the party is given the mandate in the Nov 29 Sabah election.
“The 17th of October was a historic day for Sabah, as the High Court ruled that the Federal Government had breached the Constitution,” he said during PBK’s Pre-Election Dinner last Saturday.
Ronnie, who will contest the Tanjung Aru seat, reaffirmed his determination to stage a peaceful campaign outside the UN headquarters with PBK members to pressure the Malaysian Federal Government to return Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement derived from the state.
The High Court ruled that the federal and Sabah governments must conduct a review of the Sabah Special Grant from 1974 to 2022 under Article 112D of the Constitution.
The review is meant to give effect to the Federation’s obligation to make the 40 per cent entitlement payment to Sabah under Article 112C, read with subsection (1) of Section 2 of Part IV of the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, for each financial year from 1974 to 2021.
The review must be conducted within 90 days, and an agreement must be reached within 180 days from the date of the order.
“I hope to gain the support and mandate of Sabahans to carry out this extraordinary mission,” he said.
Meanwhile, PBK Sabah Chairman Datin Soh Kee Suat said Sabahans deserve fair treatment and that PBK is ready to deliver on their aspirations.
“My vision is clear — to make Sabah a progressive, developed and united state,” she said, despite the party not achieving anything, including winning any seat in Sarawak.
Soh emphasised the party’s commitment to ensuring better access to quality education and employment opportunities, across the state.
“I want every profession, including farmers, fishermen, and entrepreneurs, to continue thriving and moving forward,” she added.
She also highlighted PBK’s goal to improve road connectivity and enhance infrastructure in both urban and rural areas to ensure safer and more efficient development statewide.
