UK train stabbing leaves nine critically injured, two arrested

LONDON: Ten people are currently being treated in British hospitals - including nine with life-threatening injuries - following a stabbing attack on a Doncaster to London King’s Cross train late on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Ajansi, two people have been arrested after multiple victims were stabbed on the train.

British Transport Police said counter-terrorism officers are supporting the investigation as they work to determine the full circumstances and motive behind the attack.

Eyewitnesses told the BBC that a man with a bloodied arm was seen running through a carriage shouting, “They’ve got a knife,” while another witness reported seeing police use a Taser on a man on the platform.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the attack as “deeply concerning” and urged the public to follow guidance from local authorities.

“My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response,” he wrote on X.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said she was “deeply saddened” to hear about the stabbings.

“I urge people to avoid comment and speculation at this early stage,” she wrote on X.
