SANDAKAN: A total of 30,768 smallholders in Sabah have obtained the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification as of Oct 15 this year, covering 191,517.96 hectares or 96.09 per cent of the state’s certification rate.
Deputy Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Chan Foong Hin said in Sandakan, 1,025 smallholders under the Sustainable Palm Oil Cluster (SPOC) S22 have been certified, covering 7,384.25 hectares, while SPOC S23 comprises 701 smallholders over 4,678.10 hectares.
He said the government has allocated RM100 million under the Smallholders’ Replanting Financing Incentive Scheme (TSPKS 2.0), which provides matching grants managed by Agrobank to support oil palm replanting efforts.
“To date, 796 applications have been approved in Sabah covering 3,420.04 hectares, involving RM61.56 million in allocations, including 34 applications in Sandakan for 155.76 hectares amounting to RM2.8 million,” he said after attending a smallholders' programme at Gum-Gum Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday.
He added that under the 2026 Madani Budget, the Federal Government has allocated RM120 million to improve the wellbeing of smallholders in the commodity sector, particularly palm oil, rubber, cocoa, pepper, and kenaf.
