Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Association of Professional Accountants (SAPA) is taking proactive steps to fortify the financial integrity of Sabah by equipping its accounting professionals with advanced forensic audit skills.
A recent full-day seminar, held last Monday drew 80 participants eager to master the intricacies of fraud detection and investigation.
Spearheaded by SAPA Deputy President Dusun Chong Ket Vui and facilitated by seasoned forensic audit practitioner YC Yau, the seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the forensic audit landscape.
Participants, including SAPA members, Ministry of Finance Sabah representatives, accounting firm practitioners, and academics, delved into critical areas such as fraud detection, investigative interviewing techniques, evidence management, and the preparation of expert reports for court proceedings.
The highly interactive session utilized real-life case studies to provide practical, actionable insights.
“This seminar underscores SAPA’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence and competency within Sabah’s accounting profession,” stated Dusun stated.
As forensic auditing becomes increasingly vital in safeguarding financial integrity, he said SAPA is dedicated to ensuring our members possess the cutting-edge knowledge and skills necessary to detect and address financial irregularities with the utmost professionalism and ethical responsibility.
The initiative was made possible in part by the generous sponsorship of the Ministry of Finance Sabah, a partnership that Dusun Chong Ket Vui gratefully acknowledged.
“SAPA deeply appreciates the Ministry of Finance Sabah’s support in advancing professional excellence within the accounting field. We are committed to providing accessible and relevant professional development opportunities to all members of the accounting community, including educators and government officers, to collectively strengthen Sabah’s financial landscape, “he concluded.
