KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) became the first political party to name its candidates for the Nov 29 Sabah Legislative Assembly General Election, unveiling a mix of familiar figures and three fresh contenders.
The decision was reached during the party’s 233rd Supreme Council meeting on Friday, which saw members in high spirits as they endorsed six names for constituencies across the state.
Among the new faces making their debut are lawyer Yong Yit Jee for Likas, retired school principal Henley Liew Yun Ye for Tanjung Papat, and businesswoman Yvonne Yong Yit Phung for Segama.
They join party stalwarts Datuk Edward Dagul for Limbahau, Datuk Japiril Suhaimi for Kundasang, and Gee Tien Siong for Luyang in what the party described as a disciplined and well-prepared campaign lineup.
SAPP secretary-general Datuk Richard Yong said the early announcement reflects the party’s culture of readiness and order, with further details on the candidates to be revealed soon.
