Kota Kinabalu: Sixteen men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Tuesday with drug-related offences.
All 16 appeared before High Court Deputy Registrar Aslianlydia Asneh, sitting as a magistrate, and pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them.
Fourteen of them, namely Md Hishamuddin Lanih, Hanapi Abdulhari, Yaser Abdullah, Albin Siha, Md Safie Alwi, Edward, Md Sukor @ Sabdullah, Zulabrah Basar, Mahadi Said, Lorensius Frans, Saidi Jumadil, Ramsan Rammelan, Abu Dharda and Faizul Anuar were charged with possessing syabu.
Hishamuddin was charged under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, while the others were charged under Section 12(2) of the DDA.
Meanwhile, Mahadi, Lorensius, Faizul, and Md Alif Md Sharif were charged with taking syabu, each under Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA.
The Magistrate fixed the mention dates between Jan 13, 14, and 15 next year, pending chemist reports.
All accused except Mahadi, Lorensius and Faizul were granted bail of RM1,200, while the latter three were further remanded pending the mention date.
Inspector Mohamad Hamidi Mohamad Hamzah prosecuted.
