Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) continues to play a vital role in empowering women in the public sector while promoting family and community well-being.
State Secretary and Puspanita Sabah Adviser, Datuk Seri Sr. Safar Untong, said an organisation’s true strength lies not in its size, but in the unity and shared spirit among its members.
“Puspanita has proven that its strength does not depend on numbers, but on the unity of hearts and shared commitment. This has been the key to its success for over four decades,” he said when officiating the 42nd Puspanita Sabah Annual Dinner themed “Malam Citra Batik” at a leading hotel here.
Safar described Puspanita as more than just an association — a family that spreads compassion through various welfare initiatives and aid programmes for those in need.
“I truly appreciate Puspanita’s concern in organising community programmes that benefit society. It reflects the strong commitment of women civil servants to social well-being,” he said.
He also encouraged Puspanita to continue supporting the local batik industry, which he said represents Malaysia’s cultural heritage and creative identity.
“The theme ‘Malam Citra Batik’ is very fitting, as batik reflects the beauty of art and national identity. I hope Puspanita will continue to promote batik and support local craft entrepreneurs,” he added.
The event featured cultural performances, exhibitions, and batik-themed competitions highlighting both traditional and contemporary designs.
Among those present were Permanent Secretary of the Finance Ministry Datuk Mohd Sofian Nair, State Public Service Director Datuk Zainudin Aman, Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Sabin Samitah, Puspanita Sabah Chairperson Datuk Dr Nuinda Alias and Organising Chairperson Prof Dr Khadizah Tan Sri Osman.
