Too much to bear for five
APM personnel assisting members of the public.
LAHAD DATU: The 17th Sabah election was too much to bear for at least five people who fainted in different places. They included a candidate, an actor and three supporters, Saturday.

Actor, film producer and screenwriter Afdlin Shauki was rushed to Lahad Datu Hospital after passing out while cheering for Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates during the nomination.

It was learnt that he fainted at 10.30am while waiting under the sun with other supporters in front of the Dewan Perdana which serves as a nomination centre. He showed up to support PH’s Romansa Lamin and Abdul Halim Sidek Gulam Hassan. 

Earlier, one of Parti Warisan’s supporters in his 50s, also fainted while cheering. He was caught by other supporters and assisted before taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Election personnel requested assistance from the emergency team to refer him for medical treatment.

Tuaran District APM Officer for the Tamparuli Unit Nur Azierah Alang said her team with Malaysian Red Crescent Society (BSMM) Tuaran District, provided first aid to two members of the public who were unconscious.

“Both individuals, including an elderly person, fainted and were given initial treatment before being rushed to Tuaran Hospital for further care.
