LAHAD DATU: This state election will witness seven candidates vie Tungku seat, with incumbent Assafal P. Alian of Warisan facing Datuk Abdul Hakim Ghulam Hassan (GRS), Saleha Abdul Wahid (BN), Suling Isib (Star), Jani Kulmen (PKS), Jakaria Nasiran (PPRS) and Hairunnizam Kamsin (PIS).
In Segama, incumbent Datuk Mohammaddin Ketapi will defend his seat as an independent in a seven-cornered contest.
He is joined in the competition by six new contenders, namely Mohammad Abd Karim (Warisan), Alif Afiandy Ali (Independent), Ehtisham Jr Ramman Maulaha (PIS), Norman Kasimin (Independent), Romansa Lamin (PH) and Yvonne Yong (SAPP).
In Silam, the seat previously held by Warisan will see its President’s brother, Datuk Dr Mohd Yusof Apdal, competing alongside eight other candidates.
His challengers include Datuk Mizma Appehdullah (GRS), Sharif Musa Sharif Mabul (BN), Borkes @ Balkis Kalinggalan (PN), Abd Halim Sidek Gulam Hassan (PH), Amat Kawoh (Independent), Mohammad Enriquez (SPP), Brahim Bisel (PIS) and Mohd Syafiq Iqhmal Saharudin (PKS).
Meanwhile, the incumbent for Kunak, Datuk Norazlinah Arif (GRS), will contest against Kasman Karate (PN), Roselih Lumayan (PIS), Ismu Isyam Arsad (PPRS), Datuk Seri Anil Jeet Singh (BN) and Datuk Jasa @ Ismail Rauddah (Warisan).
Candidates arrived at the nomination centre as early as 6.30am, creating a lively atmosphere.
