KOTA KINABALU: DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke said the federal government has clearly recognised Sabah’s constitutional right to the 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
He explained that the government’s appeal is directed only at several legal issues in the High Court judgment, not at the entitlement itself.
Loke noted that some parts of the judgment could suggest past federal and state administrations had misused power, which he said must be clarified to protect former leaders and avoid unnecessary accusations.
He said DAP and the federal government remain committed to implementing the 40 per cent entitlement in stages through proper legal and governance processes.
Loke added that Cabinet ministers also have a responsibility to safeguard unity in the Federation, stressing that challenging the entitlement itself would risk stirring division and resentment in Sabah.
