SOOK: “A Better Sook” manifesto which outlines three determinations and seven main offers in improving the quality of life of the residents and bringing Sook to a better level was launched by the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup, here, on Saturday.
It is a commitment in meeting the needs of the people, especially in further improving the living standards of the rural people in Sook.
It includes encouraging small and medium businesses and supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs through training and financial assistance programs that will help the people generate additional income and improve their standard of living.
In addition, he also committed to implementing a program to upgrade village roads and agricultural roads with the cooperation of the Federal Government to facilitate the movement of residents and the transportation of agricultural products.
Arthur, who is President of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), said it would strive to resolve the long-delayed clean water supply issue in the constituency to ensure every home has access to a clean and safe water supply.
“Don’t choose leaders who like to make promises, but those who have proven to fulfill their promises,” he said.
The Member of Parliament for Pensiangan pledged to raise the Sook District to a better level.
He cited mega infrastructure projects such as the construction of a road from Kampung Sinaron, Sook to Kampung Linayukan, Tongod, the construction of a Tamu market, the construction of a primary and secondary school as well as establishment of the first bank branch (Agrobank) in the Sook district under the previous term.
He said he will seek solutions to several critical issues that are under the authority of the State Government such as land, water and village roads issues that I cannot resolve at the Federal level.
Arthur faces a five-cornered fight for the first time in the 17th Sabah Election (PRN).
