KOTA KINABALU: Federal and State officials held their first technical-level meeting on Monday to review Sabah’s Special Grant following the High Court order on Oct 17, according to a joint statement by State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong and Federal Finance Ministry's Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.
The meeting, co-chaired by Safar and Johan, brought together senior officers from both governments to begin detailed discussions on the constitutional entitlement under Articles 112C and 112D.
Officials from Sabah and Putrajaya agreed that the session marked a meaningful and constructive start towards recalculating the grant using the 40 per cent net revenue formula.
The joint statement said both sides pledged to move forward with mutual respect and cooperation, including sharing the financial data needed for the review.
The two co-chairs also expressed confidence that the meeting laid a firm foundation for a workable settlement that meets constitutional requirements and public expectations.
