LAHAD DATU: The Lahad Datu branch of the Sabah Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) has reminded all parties not to conduct political campaigning in mosques or surau.
District Religious Administration Officer Mardi Arifin said the reminder aims to safeguard harmony and unity among Muslims.
He said avoiding political discussions in places of worship would ensure that congregants can pray in comfort without triggering sensitivities over differing political views.
“It is best for all parties to carry out political activities without involving religion, to avoid making remarks that may unintentionally offend other faiths.
“We hope this reminder will be taken into consideration for the sake of harmony,” he said.
