Tenom: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President and Pakatan Harapan Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has stressed that harmony between national parties and local state parties is a crucial factor in ensuring that every development policy can be implemented more swiftly, comprehensively, and effectively in Sabah.
Anwar said, a parallel and cooperative relationship between the Federal Government and the state government not only facilitates the implementation of major ongoing agendas but also ensures that Sabah enjoys well-organised development without overlaps in authority or bureaucratic delays.
He said that this administrative coordination has enabled several key agendas in Sabah to be executed in a more orderly manner, including matters related to state rights under the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63) as well as the claim for 40 per cent of the Federal Government’s net revenue for Sabah, which is currently in the technical negotiation phase.
“When national and state parties move in tandem, all administrative matters become easier. Issues relating to public services can be resolved immediately, while development projects can be accelerated without political disruption,” he said during the Ramah Mesra Harapan Urang Sabah programme at N.42 Melalap, held at OKK Sanggau Jalang hall here on Sunday.
He added that the Madani Government prioritises efforts to ensure that the people of Sabah enjoy equitable and inclusive development benefits, particularly in the areas of basic infrastructure, education, housing, healthcare facilities, and the expansion of economic opportunities.
Anwar, who is also the Prime Minister, further stressed that close cooperation between the federal and state governments is a key catalyst for accelerating development in rural areas, as well as strengthening the delivery of more efficient public services.
“The most important thing is the welfare of the people. With political and administrative harmony, all planned development policies can be implemented without obstacles. This is what we aim for, development that is fast, effective, and delivers direct impact to the people of Sabah,” he said.
Anwar called on all parties to maintain a stable political environment to ensure the smooth progress of development projects and to ensure that Sabah continues to receive the attention it deserves as part of the national agenda.
