Kota Kinabalu: A café and lounge supervisor was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with assaulting a woman earlier this month.
Lee Yee Hoow, 39, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to voluntarily causing hurt to one Irina Auji How at 5am, on Nov 6, at a unit in Alam Damai Condominium, Jalan Tuaran, here.
The charge is framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to one year, or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.
The court fixed Jan 9, next year for pre-trial case management and released Lee on RM1,700 bail with two sureties.
Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Muhammad Yousof Tahir Mahmood prosecuted while the accused was represented by counsel Lim Chuan Yuan.
In a separate case, a 19-year-old Filipina was released on a one-year good behaviour bond after she was found having a fake temporary identity card.
Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus imposed the bond on Farhana Abdullah under Section 294 of the Criminal Procedure Code with RM2,000 undeposited and one surety.
The court earlier received a social report for Farhana prepared by a Welfare Department officer.
Farhana pleaded guilty to having a forged temporary identity card bearing the number 051117-12-7652 under the name Farha binti Padini at 10am, on Oct 15, this year at Marina Café, One Borneo Hypermall, near here.
The offence, framed under Regulation 25(1)(e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amendment 2007), carries a maximum penalty of three years’ jail, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, on conviction.
