TAWAU: The nation’s police chief has assured that no officer or personnel will face pressure from superiors or any party to support a preferred candidate in the 17th Sabah Election.
Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police voters would be free to make their own choices to preserve democratic practice within the security forces.
He told reporters in Tawau that the force would only be guided to consider political and economic stability when casting their ballots as part of early voting on Nov 25.
Khalid also expressed satisfaction with the smooth nomination process on 15 November, noting efficient coordination by more than 9,200 police personnel deployed statewide.
He said all 15 identified hotspots remained under control and dismissed fears of phantom voters, adding that the Election Commission had handled preparations well with no related police reports lodged.
