Kota Kinabalu: Pakatan Harapan cannot even state openly who they intend to appoint as leader to lead the State, said its candidate for Luyang, Samuel Wong.
Responding to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent announcement that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would not be naming any Chief Minister candidate, Wong said this clearly reflects PH’s lack of sincerity, direction and genuine commitment to Sabah.
“Their plan is simply to win a few seats and only then decide who to support to form the government. This is not a strategy for Sabah’s progress — it is a strategy for own political agenda,” he said.
He added that Sabahans deserve a government and a Chief Minister candidate who carries a clear vision, proven capability and the political will to lead the State.
Wong asserted that PKR’s decision not to contest in both BN and GRS seats is a calculated move, not coincidence.
“By avoiding direct clashes with BN and GRS, Anwar is placing two bets at once. Whether BN defeats GRS, or GRS defeats BN, PKR keeps an open door to form the government with either side. This is not about Sabah’s welfare — it is about PKR guaranteeing itself power no matter who wins.
“PKR wants Sabah’s future to remain shaped, controlled and dictated by peninsula interests. Sabah becomes merely a political chessboard where federal players secure influence for themselves.
“Only a homegrown party that truly understands local realities can protect our rights, our resources and our autonomy.”
Wong further noted Anwar during the “Ceramah Umum PMX Harapan Urang Sabah” criticised politicians who make big promises without delivering, urging voters to judge leaders based on the states they govern. He cited PAS and Kelantan’s unresolved water crisis as an example of failed governance.
“After five years under GRS and its PH partners, Sabah is still suffering from water shortages, unstable electricity, high living costs, poor infrastructure and stagnant job opportunities.”
