SOOK: SMK Trus Madi is set to begin operations on Jan 12, 2026, marking the completion of a long-awaited project first planned under the 10th Malaysia Plan.
Deputy Education Ministry Secretary-General for Planning and Development Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim said the project faced delays due to terrain and other challenges before finally reaching completion.
He said the RM51 million school will benefit 832 students from six nearby primary schools, including 116 Year Six pupils who will continue their studies at the new secondary school.
Wan Hashim added that the 10.1-hectare campus in Kampung Sinua was designed to be conducive and easy to maintain, featuring classrooms, hostels, a multipurpose hall, dining hall, surau, teachers’ quarters, and recreational facilities.
He expressed appreciation to the developer, Sabah Education Department, Keningau District Education Office, and partner agencies during the handover ceremony at the school on Thursday.
