PENAMPANG: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has dismissed Parti Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s pledge to place Sabah’s natural resources under Yayasan Sabah as a political pitch aimed at reviving voter support ahead of the state polls.
Moyog Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) chief Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun (

He said Shafie’s proposal, which includes managing timber, minerals and land under Yayasan Sabah and using future revenue to settle student loans, lacked credibility as the foundation itself was not meaningfully reformed during the Warisan administration.
Mandela also argued that resource control must be backed by clear governance safeguards and transparent profit distribution, adding that Sabahans should assess leaders based on their track record rather than promises made when out of power.
He said GRS had since strengthened state revenue and secured higher federal grants, urging voters to focus on facts rather than sentiment as they weigh competing narratives from both sides.
