Kota Kinabalu: Caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is the most suitable choice to continue leading Sabah, said Brigadier General (Honorary) Datuk Jerry Ambuting Mohd Said.
The Honorary Members of the Malaysian Volunteers Association (Rela) President said Datuk Seri Shafie’s failure to retain power in 2020 and Datuk Seri Bung controversial image left Hajiji as the only leader capable of ensuring political stability and development.
He said Hajiji assumed leadership after the 2020 State Election and successfully formed the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government, which has remained intact until today.
“Under his leadership, the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Plan became a comprehensive framework covering the economy, education, health, infrastructure and foreign investment,” he said.
He added that Hajiji also secured greater oil and gas revenue through negotiations with Petronas, raised state income, and introduced pro-business policies that attracted international investors in renewable energy, tourism and agriculture, boosting Sabah’s economy.
“Hajiji delivers stability and real development,” he said, describing the Chief Minister as a unifying figure with a moderate style that gained cross-party support, including cooperation with Pakatan Harapan at State-level.
Jerry contrasted this with Shafie, whom he described as focusing on rhetoric rather than action and Bung, who he said was linked to controversies than governance.
He added that Hajiji’s attention to rural infrastructure, water supply, energy, roads and telecommunications, alongside frequent ground visits to meet people, demonstrated his commitment to solving problems directly.
“With the 17th State Election approaching, many see Hajiji not just as the current Chief Minister, but as the leader who can take Sabah further,” he said.
