Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Association of Professional Accountants (Sapa) has reiterated its commitment to providing extensive technical expertise to the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Government following the recent PRN17 outcome.
Sapa President Datuk Dr Tan Kok Liang congratulated Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and the newly appointed state cabinet, commending the Chief Minister’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Sabah’s autonomy and economic resilience.
“As Sabah enters this new phase, Sapa reaffirms its dedication to offering comprehensive technical support to the government,” he said.
Dr Tan also acknowledged Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun’s continued service as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Finance, expressing Sapa’s anticipation of deeper collaboration to develop local financial talent and further fiscal reforms.
He said Sapa would continue leveraging its multidisciplinary expertise — including accountants, auditors, tax specialists and governance professionals — to help the GRS government translate public funds into impactful and sustainable development programmes.
Dr Tan outlined Sapa’s key areas of support:
- Revenue Optimisation: Providing expert input on enhancing revenue collection, including matters involving the 40pc net revenue entitlement.
- Sovereign Fund Planning: Assisting in the design and management of sovereign funds to support long-term economic stability.
- Public Spending Efficiency: Strengthening transparency and maximising the impact of government expenditures.
- Governance and Integrity: Offering guidance on governance, risk management, compliance and internal controls for public institutions and state-owned enterprises.
“Sapa remains committed to helping ensure fiscal responsibility and strengthening state systems. Our goal is to support the transformation of public funds into tangible development projects that uplift the quality of life for all Sabahans,” he said.
