KIULU: Kiulu is set to adopt a more inclusive leadership approach with greater space for youth and women to participate in decision-making and community programmes.
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister Department, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, also Kiulu assemblyman, said the shift is needed to keep local leadership aligned with current rural development demands that call for fresh ideas and new energy.
He said wider involvement from young people and women is a strategic step to strengthen governance and ensure local initiatives reflect community needs.
Speaking at the opening of a dart competition in Pekan Nabalu on Saturday, he said both groups now possess the skills and perspective required to help steer Kiulu’s development.
Joniston added that village-level structures are being reviewed to create more leadership opportunities and improve grassroots administration based on direct community feedback.
