SIPITANG: The Fire and Rescue Department extinguished a landfill fire in Kampung Marintaman, here, on Friday.
Sipitang Fire and Rescue Station Chief Calvin Joe Jeafery said they received a call at 11.38am regarding the fire which produced thick haze.
“Firefighters used a 100-foot water line with one nozzle to extinguish the fire which covered appropriately 50 x 60 metres,” he said.
Later, around 4.05pm the same day, the department received another call regarding a Bangkita snake (a mangrove species) in Kampung Pelakat.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found the snake on the caller house’s verandah and captured it using special equipment before releasing it into its natural habitat,” Calvin said.
A day earlier, a python was captured after it entered a bedroom of a house in Kampung Menengah.
