SOME RM32.31 million will be spent to strengthen ICT infrastructure.
Masidi said the allocation will enhance government service delivery, expand high-speed internet access, and improve cybersecurity and digital platforms across the State.
He said RM9.59 million will be used to supply computers and ICT networks to government agencies, manage data centres, and enhance cybersecurity.
“This investment ensures efficient and secure government service,” he said.
He noted that under the 13MP, RM15.28 million has been approved to fund three projects, including a continuation project and two new initiatives.
“A key project, the Small and Medium Telecommunication Tower Installation Project, will cover 109 locations, beginning with 10 government premises in 2026 to strengthen 100 Mbps high-speed internet access,” he said.
He underscored that Sabah Net will continue to serve as the backbone of digital infrastructure, supporting 1,000 government premises, 31 e-Desa Centres, and 300 Starlink sites, ensuring reliable internet access for rural and urban communities.
Masidi highlighted that ICT infrastructure supports education and vocational training programmes, including those in human capital development, agriculture, fisheries, and livestock, enabling digital learning, skills training and operational efficiency.
“The network also underpins youth, sports, and women empowerment initiatives, enhancing access to online resources, remote training, and communication tools to support these programmes across the State.
“ICT investment further strengthens tourism, culture, and creative industry initiatives, allowing digital marketing, online booking systems, and virtual promotions to reach wider audiences while improving operational efficiency,” he said.
Masidi said that robust ICT infrastructure is essential for modern governance, service delivery, and citizen engagement, supporting both economic growth and social development in Sabah.
“By integrating ICT across education, agriculture, welfare, sports, and creative sectors, Sabah ensures that digital technology becomes a key enabler for productivity, innovation and inclusive development,” he said.
Masidi said the 2026 ICT allocation reflects the Government’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for progress, empowering Sabahans with digital tools to enhance learning, livelihoods, and public services.
