SOOK: A man sustained burns in a fire that broke out at Kampung Batu Lunguyan, Sook, at about 8.30pm on Sunday.
The 46-year-old victim, who is the homeowner, suffered burns to his shoulder and was taken to Tulid Sook Clinic by members of the public before the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Department.
According to the duty officer at the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Control Centre, the department received an emergency call at 8.54pm via the NG999 line.
He said a fire engine arrived at the scene at 9.30pm, travelling a distance of 31 kilometres from the fire station.
The fire involved a semi-permanent house measuring 30 by 50 square feet, which was completely destroyed.
“Also destroyed in the fire were a Perodua Kancil car and two Honda motorcycles, all of which were fully burnt,” he said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using one 200-foot hose line with two water jets sourced from the fire engine.
After ensuring there were no further hazards at the scene, the operation was brought under control and concluded at 9.45pm.
