KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah has named Mohd Ismail Ayob, as its unity candidate for the Lamag state by-election and identified Kinabatangan Umno Youth chief Mohd Naim Kurniawan Moktar as a key young leader for the parliamentary constituency.
The coalition said both figures reflect its push for stability, renewal and relevance amid shifting political dynamics.
Sabah Umno chief Datuk Jafry Ariffin said Mohd Ismail will contest under BN through direct membership, a move aimed at easing political tensions after the recently concluded Sabah state election.
He said the decision was taken to ensure Lamag is not marginalised and that the focus remains on serving the people rather than prolonging political rivalry.
