PENAMPANG: A 69-year-old local man was killed after a four-wheel-drive vehicle skidded off the road along Jalan Papar Lama near the rear of the Lok Kawi Camp here on Wednesday evening, district police chief Supt Sammy Newton said on Thursday.
He said the incident, which occurred at about 6pm, involved a 4WD driven by a 40-year-old foreign national with three male passengers aged between 30 and 69.
Initial investigations found that the vehicle is believed to have lost control before veering to the left side of the road, causing the front-seat passenger to be thrown out.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, while the driver and two rear passengers were unhurt, with the driver detained to assist investigations under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
