KUNAK: The road concessionaire’s efforts in carrying out repair works on damaged roads here were commended by local leaders and villagers.
Assistant Minister of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy cum Kunak Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Anil Sandhu, said he appreciated their commitment, particularly by maintenance workers who were willing to travel the distance.
“Villagers also feel relieved as the roads in their villages are now in a more comfortable and safer condition. I hope the concessionaire will continue to conduct regular monitoring in all areas or locations under their responsibility to ensure village roads are repaired and not left damaged for long periods,” he told the media on Tuesday.
Workers from the road maintenance concessionaire Pembinaan Kekal Mewah (PKM) carried out repairs on damaged village roads, including Jalan Kadazan 2, Jalan Kampung Bagiang, Jalan Kg Simpang Empat and several other routes in Kunak.
“I was also informed that the concessionaire will repair the main road leading to the Kunak Tamu Market, namely Jalan Jaya Baru, within this week,” he said.
The rural village roads are among those requiring routine and periodic maintenance following complaints from local residents.
Meanwhile, Daily Express understands that the concessionaire is responsible for maintaining approximately 60km of roads under its supervision in the district, including village roads and roads within the town area.
