NABAWAN: A man drowned after falling into a river while participating in a white-water rafting activity in Sapulut, here, Friday afternoon.

In a statement, it said the department received an emergency call at 12.40pm and dispatched 12 personnel with fire appliances to the location, about 53km from the Nabawan Fire and Rescue Station.

“The fire team faced difficulty accessing the site due to narrow routes and unpaved roads. Upon arrival, the operation commander reported that the victim had been found unconscious on the riverbank by members of the public,” the statement said.
