SEMPORNA: A 33-year-old man, believed to be an illegal immigrant, was detained with 5.09 grammes of Syabu at Kampung Lihak-Lihak on Monday.
The arrest was made during Inter Agency – Op Taring Sky, conducted by the Kunak 22nd Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) in collaboration with the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division of Semporna Police Headquarters.
Acting on information about drug-selling activities in the area, the team raided an unnumbered house in the village at about 5.50pm.
Inspection of the suspect revealed a small bag containing 29 plastic packets of substances believed to be Syabu (methamphetamine), weighing 5.09 grammes, and a pair of scissors.
The suspect also failed to produce valid identification documents. The seized items were estimated to be worth RM1,100.
“The suspect and the seizure were handed over to the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division of Semporna Police Headquarters for further action,” said Kunak 22nd Battalion GOF.
Kunak 22nd Battalion GOF added that it remains committed to intelligence operations and combating smuggling and cross-border crimes in its area of responsibility.
