TONGOD: Two houses, two grocery shops, a Perodua Kancil, a motorcycle, and two boat engines were destroyed in a house fire at Kampung Bolot on Wednesday.
Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Hairi Otuh said the station received an emergency call at 1.13pm and dispatched five personnel to the scene, located 156km from the station.
Two members of the nearby Volunteer Fire Brigade (PBS) arrived at 2.20pm to assist.
The firefighting operation used water from a nearby fire hydrant. Other agencies that helped included the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Ministry of Health officers and Rela personnel.
The fire was brought under control at 2.31pm, and the operation ended at 4.31pm.
A 62-year-old woman suffered burns to her arm and received treatment from medical officers at the scene.
The cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
