Kota Kinabalu: A total of 16 flood victims from Kampung Rampayan Laut, along with 15 prize winners of the Petron Pump & Win 2025 Campaign benefitted from the supermarket sweep programme held here at CKS Supermarket Manggatal, Thursday.

Petron East Malaysia Retail Area Manager Desmond Tan expressed gratitude for customers’ continued support towards the company, while acknowledging the hardships and challenges faced by local communities at the start of the year particularly with the floods.

“In response to these difficulties, we hope to share not just material assistance but also positivity and encouragement through carrying out initiatives like these,” he said during his opening speech.

He emphasised that the company’s relationship with its customers extends far beyond the basic transaction of purchasing fuel, as it aims to improve their quality of life through meaningful engagement and community-focused programmes.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
He said experiential programmes such as the Pump & Win Campaign were created to bring customers experiences they might only see on television directly to them, as well as the opportunity to enjoy interactive activities.

“While material things can be bought, experiences shared with family and loved ones cannot simply be purchased.

“We hope that through this campaign, our customers will take home not just prizes, but also memorable moments that can strengthen family bonds and community connections,” he said.

For the residents of Kampung Rampayan Laut, they were allocated RM500 for each family to be spent on dried goods and groceries within the time limit of four minutes. They also received goodie bags from CKS Supermarket Manggatal.

The grand prize winners were allocated RM3,000 and four minutes, while the second prize winners were given RM2,000 to spend within the time limit of three minutes.

One of the second prize winners, Sufiyan, said his participation in the event was unexpected yet meaningful.

“The opportunity largely came through my wife, as she regularly refuels at Petron stations,” he explained.

Hailing from Tenom, Sufiyan and his wife said they had been planning their strategy the moment they received the call from Petron Miles. They reviewed and calculated their choices in advance, even making the trip all the way to the supermarket to ensure their items were within the set range.

“We are truly happy and satisfied with what we managed to get,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the grand prize winners, Isma, explained that when she first received the phone call, she was sceptical and wondered whether it was a scam. It was only when the caller returned the call did she realise it was all genuine.

“I loved the experience, and I am grateful to Petron for organising this event,” she said.
