BEAUFORT: A joint operation by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and the Ministry of Health (MOG) resulted in 11 compounds being issued to premises on Wednesday.
KPDN Beaufort Branch Chief Enforcement Officer Julie Julhani said all premises in the town area were inspected during the operation.
The operation, conducted in the Lo Chung Park area, involved seven enforcement officers who examined compliance with pricing of essential goods and the use of weighing and measuring instruments by traders.
The KPDN issued three compounds under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011 and the Weights and Measures Act (ATS) 1972, while the Health Office issued eight compounds for various violations.
Julie said the joint operation would continue to protect consumer interests, adding that KPDN would not compromise on such matters.
Health enforcement officers said among the premises issued compounds were one food outlet, which received three notices for violations under Regulation 33(1)(a) of the Food Hygiene Regulations, including food handlers having long fingernails.
Another food outlet was issued two notices under Regulation 32(1)(b) of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009. Violations included food handlers not wearing proper footwear while handling food and under Regulation 33(1)(f), the offence of wearing hand jewellery while handling food.
The third food outlet was issued three notices under Regulation 33(1)(a) of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 for food handlers having long fingernails.
