SOOK: Nine houses across four villages here were damaged following a severe windstorm on Wednesday afternoon.
Sook Community Development Leader (PPM) Amzan Jahidin, who visited the affected sites on Thursday, said most of the damaged homes suffered roof damage, while some also had damaged walls.
He said the affected villages are Kampung Pagalungan Ansip with five houses damaged, Kampung Pagalungan Baru (Lilian Sumingkot) with two houses and Kampung Singgah Mata and Kampung Ansip Laut with one house each.
“This visit follows complaints received from residents of the affected villages,” he said.
He said the purpose of the visit was to assess the extent of the damage, gather detailed information and make sure that assistance and follow-up actions can be coordinated with the relevant parties.
“Our Sook UPPM office will monitor developments and work to help affected victims to ensure their welfare is protected,” he added.
Meanwhile, affected families’ hopes for assistance in the form of equipment and materials to repair their damaged homes will be distributed promptly.
