LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman praised the Immigration Department here for its swift action in busting a scamming and illegal gambling syndicate, and called for stern action on the 10 suspects arrested.
“With the heat felt in the neighbouring countries, I expect these nomadic scammers to keep targeting new havens like Labuan which is isolated and distant from major cities,” he said, adding the enforcement agencies needed to be alert.
Suhaili was referring to the detention of 10 Chinese nationals during operations at several residential premises here.
They were in Labuan police lock-up and investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155) for not having valid documents and passes.
