RANAU: Police arrested a 33-year-old local after he allegedly caused a disturbance at his ex-wife’s workplace here on Saturday.
In the 9.30am incident at a bakery in Pekan Ranau, the victim, a 32-year-old local woman, was approached by her ex-husband who was in an angry state.
The suspect came to the shop holding a spanner while shouting at the complainant’s colleagues. The complainant and his colleagues felt threatened and contacted the police for further action.
Investigations found that incidents often occurred in front of the shop where the suspect always bothered his ex-wife while she was working.
The suspect often carried the large spanner, causing the suspect’s ex-wife to feel scared in case something bad happened.
The suspect and his wife had been in the divorce process for almost a month and had four children through a marriage under village custom only.
Acting on information from the Ranau IPD Operations Room, on the same day, a group of policemen detained and arrested the suspect and further investigation led to the seizure of a 30-inch spanner.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
