Two held for theft of cash, palm fruits in Semporna
Both suspects detained by police for theft.
SEMPORNA: Police have arrested two men suspected of involvement in separate thefts, one involving cash and the other palm fruits on Thursday.

District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said in the first incident, a woman noticed that RM200 was missing from her purse, which she had left inside her car while attending to her unconscious husband at a hospital.

Prior to the incident, a man had offered help to lift her husband with hospital staff. While the victim was busy with registration, the man allegedly took advantage of the situation and stole the cash from her bag inside the car.

"The incident was recorded on CCTV, and the suspect was detained around 4pm on the same day with the help of the public,” he said.

On the same day, a police MPV team apprehended a Proton Iswara driven suspiciously by a 45-year-old man during patrol at Kampung Tonggulangan.

Inspection revealed no identification documents, and several bunches of palm fruits were found in front of an unnumbered house. The suspect later admitted to stealing the palm fruits from a nearby farm.
