KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), through its Submarine Force Headquarters (MAKS), marked its 92nd anniversary with the successful implementation of the Jiwa Murni Madani Programme, “Borneo Ultra Ocean Clean Up” at Teluk Likas Public Park and the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park on Saturday.

The annual programme forms part of the Madani initiative and serves as a platform to support the National Security Policy 2021–2025, particularly its emphasis on sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources to safeguard food security.

A total of 126 scuba divers from various uniformed agencies, including the RMN, Malaysian Army, Marine Police, Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Civil Defence Force, took part in the underwater clean-up operation.

Participants from public and private organisations, such as Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Sabah Parks, who are certified divers, also joined the effort.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
Now in its fifth edition, the programme continues to focus on instilling environmental awareness among the public, especially younger generations, on the importance of protecting marine ecosystems, with hopes that such initiatives will foster a stronger sense of responsibility and appreciation for environmental conservation.

The event was officiated by Submarine Force Commander, First Admiral Kamalrulzaman Zainul Ahkmar, who commended the strong support from participating agencies and the public in making the programme a success.

He said the involvement of security forces and the wider community, particularly the diving fraternity, reflects the concept of Comprehensive Security, where national security is a shared responsibility.

Kamalrulzaman hoped programmes promoting patriotism and environmental stewardship would continue to enliven the RMN’s 92nd anniversary celebrations, while reminding Malaysians to remain grateful for the peace and stability achieved through the sacrifices of past generations.
