Main Dojo clinch overall title
The Main Dojo contingent.
Kota Kinabalu: Main Dojo captured the overall title at the 47th Sabah State Senior Karate Championship organised by Sabah Karate Association (SKA) at the Dewan Sri Sulaman, Tuaran over the weekend.

They took home five golds, two silvers and one bronze to top the medal tally.

SKA Penampang took second place with two gold, five silver and three bronze medals, while Keningau Sports Complex Karate Club rounded out the top three, achieving two golds, one silver and two bronzes.

In the 2nd Sabah State Youth Karate Championship held at the same venue a day earlier, SKA Penampang were crowned overall champions with an impressive haul of seven gold, three silver and seven bronze medals followed by Securido Karate Club with five golds, six silvers and four bronzes, and in third place were Keningau Sports Complex Karate Club with three golds, two silvers and three bronzes.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd’s executive chairman Datuk Jasnih Daya representing Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor.

The Chief Minister in his speech commented SKA for their initiative to ensure the sport in the State maintain their high standard and hope the annual tournament will serve as a platform to unearth more new talents in the State.

He also wants to see the State athletes surpass their achievements in the last Sukma where they finished third overall in the medal tally with two golds, three silvers and six bronzes.

“I want to see more of our silver medals in the last edition converted into golds this year. With more thorough preparation I am confident that Sabah will be able to dominate karate in Malaysia,” he said.
