BELURAN: Issues related to staffing and facility constraints at the Beluran District Council will receive serious attention from the government.
Sabah Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Datuk Mohd Arif, said his Ministry has taken note of the various challenges raised, including the need for additional positions to ensure smooth administration and effective service delivery to the public.
He said the Ministry will thoroughly review the requests submitted by the Beluran District Council before making any decisions.
“One of the main issues raised is staffing. God willing, my Ministry will give serious and in-depth attention to this matter, and we will find a solution.
“There are several positions being requested to ensure the effectiveness of the district council in carrying out their duties,” he said at a press conference during an official working visit, here, Monday.
In addition, he said the need for additional buildings to accommodate council staff will also be detailed and considered.

He added that the government is not overlooking the need for basic facilities, including the provision of vehicles for solid waste management and to improve cleanliness and the overall appearance of the area. “All these needs are important to ensure that the district council can carry out its responsibilities more effectively,” he said.
At the same time, he urged the district council to continue playing its role as a monitor of all concessionaires operating within their administrative areas, including those appointed by the ministry and other agencies.
Mohd Arifin also praised the achievements of the Beluran District Council, describing them as excellent in terms of governance, including success in obtaining cleanliness certification and various excellence awards.
“They have also shown a strong commitment to implementing digital systems in administrative matters, and this is something very commendable,” he said.
In a related development, Arifin, who also holds the Islamic affairs portfolio, said the government will continue to pay attention to the needs of Muslims in the district, including the construction of a new mosque in Baitan and efforts to upgrade the mosque in Beluran town.
He added that the development of State religious schools in the area will also be reviewed from time to time.
