Kota Kinabalu: A total of 120 players are set to compete in the inaugural 2026 Triangular Golf Championship to be held at Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club (SHGCC) this Saturday.
The one tournament will features players from Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC), Kinabalu Golf Club (KGC) and host SHGCC.
SHGCC’s captain Valerian Hansen Petrus, who initiated the tournament said he is expecting the best players from each club.
“Each club team will be represented by 40 players including eight women.
“Of that number, the 10 best men’s results and the four best women’s results will be counted as the overall team achievement which will determine which team will lift this prestigious trophy,” he said on Thursday.
According to him, the competition format is `System 36 – Stroke Play’, and it also offers individual prizes to the three best male players and the three best female players from each team.
He added that despite the extremely hot and dry weather conditions lately, the 18-hole course (Lake and Heritage) designed by renowned Australian player Graham Marsh is well maintained by the management of Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club.
“I am very grateful to the management of Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club for maintaining a very satisfactory green view, especially in the `Green’ section and its surroundings.
“I am sure all the players are eager to play and show their capability and I would also like to thank everyone who has supported this tournament, especially Sutera Harbour Resorts.”
