Kota Kinabalu: Two men were injured after being attacked with a sickle and axe near a bridge in Kampung Sembulan Lama on Sunday, with police still hunting the suspect.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda, in a statement, said the incident happened at 8pm when both victims and several friends had gathered at the location to buy drinks, during which an altercation broke out with a local man known as “Totong”.
Following the initial dispute, the suspect is believed to have returned home to retrieve the weapons before coming back to the scene and attacking both victims.
The first victim sustained injuries to the back of the neck and leg, while the second victim suffered wounds to the neck and arm. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
Police conducted an inspection of the scene and recorded statements from the complainant and several witnesses to assist with further investigations.
Kasim said efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect are ongoing.

He urged the public to refrain from speculation that could hamper investigations and called on anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and contact the nearest police station.
