RANAU: The Catholic faithful at St. Francis of Assisi, Kinorotuan Ranau, gathered here to celebrate Pentecost Sunday, a pivotal feast in the Church’s liturgical calendar.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Lasius Gantis, Parish Priest of St. Peter Claver Ranau (SPCR) church, who delivered a powerful sermon emphasizing the significance of the Holy Spirit’s descent and its transformative impact on believers.
During his homily, Fr. Lasius highlighted Pentecost as the “birthday of our Church”. He recounted how, initially, the followers of Jesus were gripped by fear of the Jews and uncertainty about the future after Jesus was no longer physically with them.
However, after being “breathed upon by the Holy Spirit,” as described in the first reading, they became courageous and went forth to proclaim the Good News of God, which is the message of Jesus Himself.
