Tenom: A house was completely destroyed in a fire at the LIGS Scheme in Laut Seberang near here early Tuesday, with several vehicles and motorcycles also gutted in the blaze.
In the 2.37am incident, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call through the NG999 line before a team from the Tenom Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
According to the duty officer of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre, the fire engine arrived at the location at 3.02am after travelling 11 kilometres.
Also destroyed in the fire were two vehicles, while another vehicle, a Proton Satria, sustained about 10 per cent damage to its front bumper.
In addition, six motorcycles were reported to have been completely burned.
Firefighters carried out extinguishing operations using a 200-foot hose line with two water jets from the fire engine to control the blaze.
The fire was brought under control at 3.33am, and operations fully concluded at 6.18am after firefighters ensured there were no further hazards at the scene.
The operation, led by PBK I Shahril Sulaiman, involved six personnel from the Tenom Fire and Rescue Station with assistance from the police and Sabah Electricity.
No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire as well as the estimated losses are still under investigation.
